Confusion Hypnosis

This method causes confusion in the subject which leads to a welcome escape to the hypnotic trance.

Take the subject's hand and tell him that you are going to touch and name each finger. (Always ask permission to touch a client beforehand as some people may feel very uncomfortable).

Touch the correct fingers - for example - whilst saying - 'this is the little finger' 'this is the thumb' and slowly introduce incorrect names for the fingers - 'I'm touching the middle finger' - whilst in fact touching the thumb. During this process you could get your subject to count backwards from a hundred - very slowly - and suggest that when they lose count they must start again at a hundred.

You will notice no objection when you are naming incorrect fingers - which means that you can progress with a deepener.

To deepen the trance

Tell the subject that you are now going to drop the hand into the lap and as it touches the lap they will go one thousand more deeply relaxed. Take hold of the wrist and move it gently three times - whilst counting - one - two - three - and dropping the hand into the lap. Then repeat this with the other hand - and ask them to do the same with each foot.

You should notice that they are too heavy and relaxed to move the feet - so you can proceed with a visualization and suggestions.
